Takashima chijimi gathered skirt

This gathered skirt is made of traditional Takashima chijimi, which has been produced since the Edo period. Compared to ordinary plain weave, Takashima-Chijimi is made by twisting the weft yarn more than twice as many times, which reduces the area that touches the skin with the uneven texture and allows for more air to flow through the fabric. Therefore, the fabric feels cool and dries quickly without stickiness even when sweating. The random texture of the fabric makes it highly moisture absorbent and refreshing to wear, making it an ideal clothing material for the hot and humid climate of Japan, and it is used for undergarments, kimonos, and other clothing in a wide range of situations. It has a voluminous silhouette with elastic and ties at the waist.
